Agnihotram Ramanuja Tatachariar (1907–2008) was a renowned Vedic scholar of Vaishnava sect of Hinduism. He was a descendant of Nathamuni hailing from Kumbakonam. The book had quite a few Sanskrit slokas printed wrongly and interpreted the way the author likes. There have been books written as a retort to the ideas expressed by Agnihotram Tatachariar in this book and all of them are of the opinion that 'Indhu Madham Engey pogirathu' is written to please the atheists in Tamil Nadu and that most of the contents in the book are a figment of author's imagination of what would have happened thousands of years ago. The cover of the book had Tatachariar in a traditional look wearing religious symbols across his body the purpose of which is to trick individuals into believing that this is a scholarly book on Hinduism and Indian culture. Tatachariar, throughout his life counter explained the criticisms of the atheists. But had disclosed all his knowledge and have provided references which could be verified by anyone. The Hindu scholars do not have any basis for the claim on why should atheists be pleased by Tatachariar as he was not associated with the atheists but with Hindu saints. He also have not written anything on support to atheism, rather he himself has led many theist movements and organizations.
